Holiday Blues?

This time of the year with the year ending and Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up are exciting to many people who enjoy the holidays. Other people may find this time of the year depressing with families broken or not speaking. Which do you find the holidays to be, exciting or depressing?

I fall on the side of exciting! Even if our family wasn't speaking (they are), *I* would probably tend to be oblivious and speak to them anyway! LOL

I find the holidays exciting; it's my favorite time of year!  I get excited a little before Halloween, all the way through Christmas.  I pay for it later though.  January just sucks.

I find Christmas a bit too commercialised nowadays, as I do Halloween, neither of which excite me as much as they did in my youth and when I had young children.

We will visit our 8 year old grandson before Christmas. His father, my son, is separated from his mother but they remain good friends, share custody and live near to each other, so we enjoy that aspect of the holiday, and my daughter will visit briefly with our little granddaughters on their way up North to stay with her in laws. (We don't have room to accommodate them unfortunately).

These two days will be the best time and the rest will be just like any other day in the life of an idle, retired couple!  :D

I go from one end to the other all through the holidays.  I really love Christmas, but it's hard sometimes not to miss my loved ones that are no longer here.  Money is tight this year, so that's going to add some stress....  This year, just going to try and survive.

I love the holidays, especially the time leading up to them. I get into the decorations, music and holiday movies. I find the big day kind of sad because then it's just about all over.

I miss loved ones that have passed on, but I remember them especially at this time of year.

I'm on the depressed group or is it just me? The house of my grandparents, where we spend Christmas and New Year celebrations, was burned down this year. All we have left are memories of that place.

Another reason why I would be depressed is because we don't have Christmas break in the school where I'm working. :(

There is still a reason to be glad though because my girlfriend and other friends are with me on the holidays. :)

I fall on the side of being excited for the holidays. Christmas is by far my favorite holiday, and what's not to like about Thanksgiving? Especially if you like food as much as my family & I do!

I love the holidays!  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all.  We sit around the table as a family and we each take turns telling about something we are thankful for.

This year I am thankful that my brother is Retired from the military ~ it's been 21 long years.  He is not officially out until March 2011, but he is on leave until then.

My mom told me today that Christmas will be wonderful this year.  My brother and family will be home to share it with us.  So many people take for granted what they have (family around), I have so many friends that complain about their siblings ~ not me.  It has been 21 long years and I am ready to spend time with my brother and family again.  He retired in NC and I live in NY.  Shame on him :)

This will probably be the last year for my Grandma too.  She is my last living Grandparent.  I am going to cherish every last Holiday with her.

So I'm on the excited side of the holidays!  Bring them on!

The holiday is an exciting season for us here. Spending time with the family in prayer is a big thing for us here (I mean my home). It is also a chance for us to spend some fun time with people at work, neighbors, club fellows, etc.
