American Thanksgiving, the alternative way

As a British citizen I don't have any real connection to Thanksgiving, and to be honest until I moved overseas I didn't really know anything about it.

Now I have lots of American friends I get at least one invitation to feast on great food, although I'm told many of the components are not authentic as it's difficult to find the exact ingredients needed.

Tomorrow I will enjoy turkey, (don't ask how much it cost!), stuffing, broccoli casserole, various potato and vegetable dishes, and of course pumpkin pie, (thanks to Costco).

I hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving had a fabulous holiday.

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!  I started mine off with a 5K race, but we just walked and oddly enough, drank.  People set up tables with mimosas and beer and it was fun.  Then we went to my in-laws' house and had our traditional Thanksgiving dinner.  It was a good day.

Thanks Spacelover. Your day sounds like it was fun.

I nearly missed my party as the transmission on my car gave out, but luckily someone offered to collect me so it all worked out well in the end.

That's a bad day for your car to break down!  I'm glad you got to your party and I hope the car's transmission isn't horribly expensive to fix.

Thanks Space. I think it costs around $2-3000, which is more than the car is worth these days. The good news is that the garage owner found it is subject to a recall for transmission faults, so it will be replaced for free!

Oh that's great!  I'm so glad you won't have to pay for the repairs; I bet that is a load off your mind.  I know I would have been stressing out.

I can hardly believe it's a year since I posted this. It's odd, but it seems like both yesterday and ten years ago - not sure how that is possible; perhaps the concept of time is not as straightforward as it seems?
