jsherma5
I am a doll maker. And old fashioned porcelain, and cloth doll maker. Those I have recently begun expanding into new materials. I like polymer and use old antique doll molds with the polymer to make durable dolls. While casting is fun, it can be expensive when using a kiln. Composition slip is a rare thing to find. Noen the less every year I am determined to recreate one of my many doll molds and enter them into the county fair. This year I have expanded into my heritage dolls and am learning to paint Matroyshka dolls. Not as easy as it looks. As a hobby its become a vocation and a diversion therapy. While dolls may seem trivial, because you can buy them, making one from scratch the way they used to do in the 1800s, is therapeutic. Almost as long as a pregnancy with none of the Dr visits. If you have never watched how a doll is created from scratch, you might want to give it a look see. Quote Link to comment
