But that'll be far from your lifetime. Or mine. Or your grandkids, if you have or will have any. Even if you have descendants who still live on Earth 100,000 years in the future… they won't have the worry about the sun “eating up” our home planet one day. The sun truly only grows approximately 0.85 inches. A year. That means that the sun won't threaten our existence (though we'll probably be on plenty of other planets by then) for another 4.5 to 7.5 billion years. Assuming that the sun won't implode on itself until soon after it engulfs Earth (it may engulf Mars, too). In fact, a growth rate of 0.85 inches per year… is about the rate our fingernails grow. … Yeah, I don't think that we have anything to worry about. VOICEMAN Quote Link to comment
