gtdoss
When I graduated from high school, an 18-year old could get a pretty good job without a college education. Secretarial and clerical jobs were available to high school graduates. Even a management job could be had if you obtained a high school diploma in the 80s. Nowadays, however, most full time jobs with a good pay rate will require a college degree, even if the degree has nothing to do with the job. Many jobs that didn't use to require a college education are now eagerly sought after by university graduates. My oldest son is a junior in college, and my youngest son will be going to college next year. I've always drummed into their heads that if they don't go to college, they could very well end up working in low-paying jobs that they might not like. Goodness knows what kind of hoops my future grandchildren will have to jump through when they become job seekers. Quote Link to comment
