HoneyB
It is no news that education is important. However, most kids nowadays seem to be more interested in entertainment and media. I have encouraged the use of learning Apps, and I noticed that they find it engaging. How can I increase their interest in reading? I'd appreciate your suggestions. Quote Link to comment
pager
Start early. Children respond more to what they see. Using colorful books with pictures with an interactive session can be helpful. Most times, you do not need to read the text aloud but act out what you see. For example, you can make a sound of a moving train when you see a picture of a train. Children are sensitive. The parent's enthusiastic attitude can rub off on the child. Quote Link to comment
fischer007
I once heard this story from a military officer on how he trained his children to read. He said he would often buy his children books to read and at the last page, they will find a prize money. They can only claim it if they were able to clearly understand what they have read. This was his way of training his children to become interested in reading. I think another way to make your children interested in reading is that they see it in you. I think if they often see you reading a good book and sharing it to them, it might also inspire them to read books to imitate you. Read with them. Quote Link to comment
