Hewrites
A ‘.com’ is a domain extension used by many people especially for business purposes. The extension has gained acceptance and popularity so much that many people prefer using it for their business websites than any other extension. There are some extensions, which are springing out; however, these extensions are not a match with a .com, at least for now. Considering the above, can we conclude that a .com still has a bright future? Note: Our focus is on businesses and not organizations. Quote Link to comment
Alchemy66
I think that it does. ".com" is still the "Gold Standard" of TLDs. sure, there are other contenders like "org", "edu", and "io", but these all tend to have specifically defined purposes. Do I think that the ".com" dominance will come to an end? Yes. Sites like musical.ly certainly portend that. That demise is still a long way away, though. Quote Link to comment
Rexy
'.com' domains definitely have a bright future. A lot that a lot of the '.com' domains are taken, leaving '.com' domains with an extremely limited supply. I reckon that in 30 years or so, almost 80% of all 10 letter '.com' domains will already be taken. Meaning that it could possibly be a good investment if you buy a lot of '.com' domains.
