Is The United States still a democracy in the form of a republic?

In April 2014 Princeton published a study that concluded that The United States is no longer a true democracy and has not been one for some time.  Their findings showed that The United States is now and has been actually an oligarchy.  Do you agree with this or do you think that We the People still actually hold the power?

As for me:

I could not agree with this more and knew for more than a decade before this Princeton publication that The United States was no longer a true democracy but just one in name only.  I would only add to this study that we are also a plutocracy with corporations holding the power over our government instead of We the People. I have also observed that both parties are equally responsible for this and both parties are overwhelmingly corrupt.  The Democratic Party is no longer the party of FDR and the Republican Party is no longer the party of DDE.
