RomanHurin Posted December 9, 2017 Report Share Posted December 9, 2017 Land Grid Array and Pin Grid Array are two different processor to socket designs, lga is used by intel and has the pins which connect the processor to the motherboard in the motherboard socket, pga on the contrary is used by amd and has the pins directly on the processor. Lots of intel and amd followers argue about which array is better, and there are some pros and cons in both of them. It is easier to damage pins on an lga mobo since they are smaller, curved and fragile, now if you would find yourself in a situation when you need to repair the socket you couldn't do much in most of the situations becouse of, again, how fragile those pins are. In general lga is a good strategy when it comes to mounting and demounting a processor becouse there is almost no chance that you will damage the processor, but a big risk of damaging the mobo which is better then damaging the cpu since usually the cpus cost twice the price of the mobo they are mounted on. Pga has its pins on the processor which is not as bad as in lga's situation becouse those pins on the processor are are big, round and strait so even if you will damage a bend a pin or brake it of completely you could easily move the pin back or mount another (you can find a diagram of unused pins for your pga cpu, demount an unused one and mount it in place of the broken one with the help of a soldering needle).
