Adams
Nigeria is one of the world's most ethnically diverse countries in the world. The Hausa and Yoruba make up around 21 percent of the population; the Igbo, 18 percent; the Fulani, around 11 percent; and Ibibio, 5 percent. Various other groups make up the remaining 23 percent. Nigeria has such a variety of people and cultures which makes it difficult to pick one national dish. Each part of Nigeria has its own regional favourite food that depends on customs, tradition, and religion. The different foods available also depend on the season, some of the most common and generally eaten Nigerian food are Fufu (Cassava Flour), Pounded Yam, Maize, Potatoes, Garri, Eba, Rice, Beans, Amala and Semolina. Many Nigerians like swallow food: (food that is eaten without chewing them: you make a lump of the food, dip the lump in the soup or sauce and swallow). Many Nigerian families boast of eating at least one swallow meal a day. Fruits, however, are enjoyed year-round. A large part of Nigeria lies in the tropics, where many fruits are available. Some of the popular fruits are oranges, melons, grapefruits, limes, mangoes, bananas, and pineapples. Nigerian food is essential to Nigerian culture. It defines the Nigerian people. This is why wherever there is a Nigerian; they always want to eat Nigerian food. Do you feel this story is the same for other countries as well? Quote Link to comment
