voyasimpli
Boy captures selfie The old man upon the bench sends his thoughts to clouds I wrote that while thinking about the influences of social media on society. It is an old Japanese form of poetry called haiku, and it is a way to express emotions about various topics. A haiku has three lines that follow the pattern 5-7-5, and each number represents the number of syllables per line. This restriction forces writers to describe the topic in as few words as possible. Haikus also use imagery of sight, sound, and touch. For this reason, haikus can express feelings. Another prominent technique is the inclusion of two images that contrast. My poem contrasts between a boy and an old man. In closing, haikus enable writers to communicate thoughts about a particular topic and can capture ideas in a reasonable amount of time.
