KHammac
With a degree in interpreting American Sign Language, you'd think I would be knee-deep in the Deaf Community. It was, after all, the goal when I started my ASL classes: to be a part of something bigger than me; to have learned a new language and, by proxy, have evolved into a better version of myself. Much to my dismay, I learned fairly quickly that the Deaf Community is not fond of having us, the Hearing, be a part of their community. While I still have a few Deaf friends, I have been forced to put to rest my desire for being among those that speak the one language that I find the most beautiful. Bittersweet learning right there, dear readers. Quote Link to comment
