amy_michelle_2007
I've just picked up Start by Jon Acuff from our local library and am so excited to read it. My husband and I are really researching starting our own businesses and working for ourselves. Our biggest desire is to pack up our stuff, and make the move from hot and dry Texas to somewhere tropical with our kids and be financially free. Books like Start, I'm hoping, will give us the knowledge and the push to get there. I'm an avid reader and always looking for new and great material. I'd love to know what's on your current reading list! Quote Link to comment
otley.road
The book that I am just about to read is "The Case Against Sugar" by Gary Taubes, which, in a nutshell, proposes that sugar is actually very bad for us. It seems that, in the past, humans did not eat as much sugar as they do now, and the introduction of sugar into our diet has had a big impact on human health, and could be responsible for high blood pressure, heart disease, some cancers, and even Alzheimer's disease! I am looking forward to giving it a good read, and weighing up the scientific evidence. As a child I loved sweets, but over the years I cut down my sugar intake, until now I avoid sugary foods. I am sure that after reading this book, I will be put off sweet foods even more. Quote Link to comment
GlobalMatter
I'm currently reading "Millionaire's Next Door" by Thomas J. Stanley. It is a book about the survey of a number of millionaires in the United States. It tells about the frugality of these people and on how they become and stay wealthy. It turns out those who have a high consumption lifestyle and showcase their expensive possessions aren't really wealthy because they have few to no investments. Those spenders belong to the UAW group or Under Accumulators of Wealth as said by the author. This book will teach you to live frugally and invest your money in assets so you would belong to the PAW group or Prodigious Accumulators of Wealth. I'll spoil no more and I hope you read this book too! I'm currently on the last few pages and I loved it! Quote Link to comment
