make_it_count
I ask this question because when I was in highschool one of the things I struggled with was not knowing what I wanted to do for a career. Even now I'm still trying to figure it out. I wonder if I would have benefited from a vocational high school. Wouldn't it benefit high school students to have more opportunities to figure out early on the types of careers they might be interested in? Wouldn't it make more sense to leave high school with skills that you can put to use in the real world? I mean the job market is competitive and employers want people with experience. I've lost count the number of times I heard of people who attended college (racking up a lot of student debt) and are unable to find a job with the degree they have. Quote Link to comment
Mickey J
I do believe that all highschools should be vocational. I agree that it would give you needed skills, but also allow you the earning potential to further your education if you so choose without accruing said debt. I also believe more companies should hire teenagers, and that more schools should promote entrepreneurship. How will we know what they could have been if we are only molding them into what we believe they can be. Quote Link to comment
Maddie
I agree with this idea. I think that if all high schools were vocational, it will allow everyone the ability to find a positive way to earn income and find a career path that they enjoy. College education is such an expensive endeavor. If we made vocational schools more accessible to teenagers, I believe they would be able to become financially independent and have much richer, happier lives at a much sooner age.
