JFEdwards
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is by far the best Disney movie ever made. The lead character is ugly and must survive on his force of character and friendships, all the while struggling with how to adapt in a world dominated by physical looks. Frolo, the lead villain, can be considered a good guy. He does shelter Quasimodo, he has pangs of guilt over his forbidden and lustrous love of Esmeralda. I don't see Disney making a better movie. Many have come close, but none will ever top The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Quote Link to comment
SanguineSara
Are you familiar with Disney's Oliver and Company? The film has been my favorite since childhood for quite a few reasons. First of all, it's based off of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, yet it's so utterly different from said novel that they're completely separated from each other in terms of artistic merit. It's inspiring to me how art could be interpreted in such a way; after all, isn't it exciting to think each and every person in this world is so unique that we're capable of perceiving the same subject matter in completely different lights? Just thinking about it makes me so eager to publish my books and see how people react! Of course, that's not the sole reason it's my favorite Disney piece! The plot and characters are enticing from the start, with an art style I still find incredible in terms of animation, even compared to modern movies. The frame rates are smooth and each character is drawn so adorably that it's sure to make your heart melt! The audio backs up the perfect visuals; each number on the soundtrack is well-orchestrated with powerhouse vocals and catchy lyrics. I often find myself listening to songs from the movie simply because they're so good! I can't recommend this movie enough, whether you're a hardcore Disney fan or simply want to enjoy a movie with your family! Quote Link to comment
