Leaderboard

All the shows in the regular tv season are ending this month. There are a few finales I am eager to see. I'm looking forward to the season ending of Castle, New Girl and The Mindy Project. I am also interested to see the show finale of The Office. What shows are you anticipating?

Today in South Korea we had a surprise snow shower, quickly followed by about six inches worth. Then it started thundering at the same time. Is it just me who thinks that is really weird?

Hurricane Sandy is causing some wind and rain here on the beach and my goodness, has the ocean been loud the past few days! Today will be the worst of the weather for us and so far it doesn't seem too bad, just a bit gloomy. A postal employee was standing under one of my trees during a rain band and I invited her to come in until it passed, but she said she was ok. I do worry for the folks a little further north though. Will you be affected?

Name one (or more) thing(s) for which you are thankful, in the spirit of the season. I'll start! I'm thankful for life, health, and family.

It has been so super-nice here in the deep south except for one thing....pollen. I'm allergic to most everything that flies around in the air, and I usually keep a cough and a runny nose for it. But I have to say, the weather has been delightful for my cold bones. It got a little chilly last night, down in the high 30's, but sprang right back up into the high 70's today. Man, besides the alleriges, I love spring and summer.

Tonight I realised the true power of the Internet. I introduced a "friend" of mine on Facebook to another "friend," neither of whom I have met. One was a colleague on an online job site, who lives in the USA and was having a problem with her website, and the other was the husband of a woman I had interacted with on a browser game, who lives in Scotland and happens to be an IT professional. The world is truly a small place!

Well, it's January 6th already. If you made any New Year's resolutions, how are they holding up so far? I won't get into my specific resolutions, but out of the three big ones I made, one is not going well, one is just okay, and the other is actually going better than I had hoped. I can't wait to see where I am in another six days!

I love my cats and my dog, but sometimes they want so much attention. I'm not usually one to complain about distractions, but one of my cats has meowed at me literally hundreds of times today, and it's becoming like nails on a chalkboard. She has everything she needs like food, she just wants constant attention. I feel a little bad, but I have to live my life too!

At 3 P.M. yesterday I told my mother I would stop smoking as part as her mothers day present (I got her something else too). A little more than 24 hours later I am thinking, "What was I thinking!" I feel edgy, jittery, every second is so long and I keep thinking I am seeing something out of the corner of my eye! Oh my, this is hard but I so much want to do this! Please tell me it gets easier!

Have you ever been reading something funny online and caught yourself smiling or laughing? Or been involved in an exciting chatroom conversation and it's like you can't sit still in your chair? Isn't it funny how our computers affect us like that? I think it would be a neat experiment to video tape ourselves while we're online and watch it later. I'm sure that, many of the facial and body movements we make while we're online, we don't even realize we're making them. I remember back in the 90's and early 2000's, when I basically lived in an AOL chatroom. Someone would say something funny online, and you'd just start cracking up. I've been asked, more than once by my wife and daughter, "What's so funny?" or "What are you laughing at?" It's like, eh, you wouldn't understand, or, you wouldn't get it.
