If you're the type of a blogger who loves going in-depth while explaining a point, adding a few fun talks relevant to your storyline might be your best shot to make your content interesting and free from being like lukewarm while creatively connecting with your readers and retain them in your blog. However, there is one point to note here, you should never go too overboard in this so as not derail from the main subject matter of your blog.
