Ever Tried To Make Home Made WonTon Soup?

I'm a huge fan of Chinese takeout, but it can start to add up cost wise. In addition, the aren't any Chinese takeout places near where I live. I have to drive about 10-15 min away to get it, which means the food often gets cold before I get home with it.

I would consider myself fairly good at making various fried rices and stir fry's. I also made a few attempts to make home made egg rolls, which didn't turn out so great. But one thing I hadn't tried until recently, was making Wonton soup from scratch.

Surprisingly, it was rather easy. I followed a recipe from Youtube, and was pretty pleased with the results. My main gripe with the first few batches was that I really didn't care for the sesame oil - it was way too overpowering, so I omitted it from future batches. The other thing I didn't quite care for was that in the recipe I was following, it called for dropping the wontons into the broth and cooking them in it. This resulted in a murky looking broth (though it still tasted great!). So with my most recent attempt, I cooked the wontons separately in a steamer, then placed them in a bowl and ladled the broth over them, which looked much more like what I am used to.

The only main problem I am having now, is they seemed to stick to my steamer. And apparently I'm not rolling them quite right, because some of them still continue to unravel and open up. But all in all, it was definitely worth the effort!
